If you have reading time than try random reading, popcorn reading, chain reading and loud and slow reading to break the monotony in the classroom. This will ensure maximum participation and they will learn from each other.

As a new teacher, I see 2 things that generate student engagement: - sharing our professional experiences helps our students enormously. It's a guarantee of authenticity and humanity in our relationship with them. We're no longer just there as teachers, but as people who want to provide them with more than just technical knowledge, with concrete, actionable tips. - Case studies, because they put us into real-life situations - Group work, because it helps them realize the power of teamwork. In a company, you're not alone and you don't know everything. They learn to respect each other's opinions.
