IT is an integral part of the business but cooperation needs to be maintained throughout all departments. Accounting as CFO roles are not the same anymore. Different thoughts would give new ways of thinking on how the end user would be making use of it and this gives us the opportunity to create new software or applications. From own experience it is fundamental to open a dialog & feedback,as the results will add value in most cases or can be used as lesson learned. I had the experience of challenging IT to improve some major accounting process that were too manual. Starting with a briefing of what we ( finance ) would like to improve and them (IT) gathering the information ; the idea became a tangible tool after some exchange of ideas,test,meetings & improvements. Final version deploy with some additional features from IT adding benefits of running before executing/ registering transactions in the general ledger , it also has some 'warnings' to prevent possible duplicates. As a result : reduce time spent on process , allow flexibility, reduce human errors.????

Post Covid the world has got a new way of working which are more tech savvy and efficient and most important is acceptability across all stakeholders. This is boon and blessing in disguise for accounting professionals no matter whether you are in large or small setup. So this is now necessity than luxury and not only limited to large setups.
