It allows you to notice what their body language is saying and what words they're using specifically and of a variety of other things. You can start to understand more of what's important to them, as well as what might be difficult for them.

Strategic planning in relationship building is all about understanding the other person! What is their pain point? How can I help? Bringing genuine help to others and getting paid for it is not wrong. Too many empathetic people can't make it in sales for that reason. But the Sales people who understand that genuine SOLUTION finders with the customer's best interest at heart is what brings success.
