#JPSHealthNetwork encourages #TeamJPS to embrace diversity and their own core values. This month, we celebrate the richness of Tribal culture and Native nations. Native American Heritage Month is an opportunity for us to share the stories of our team members with Indigenous roots. “Embracing my roots and celebrating Native American Heritage Month is important to me. My culture is very much a part of the present, not just a thing of the past. It's an opportunity for us to educate others about our history and bring awareness to the challenges we've faced. JPS has provided a supportive environment where I can be unapologetically myself. Celebrating heritage months like these makes me feel proud and safe, and it's a chance to listen to other’s stories and learn from them.” Caitlyn Tointigh, Communications Specialist

#JPSHealthNetwork recognizes how important it is to raise awareness of diabetes in our community. In the United States, diabetes affects about 38 million people. #JPS makes diabetes education a priority so that our patients can learn to successfully manage a fulfilling lifestyle. JPS patient Efrain Martinez was recently diagnosed with diabetes after experiencing a series of falls due to dizziness. Upon his diagnosis, he feared that his life would drastically change. Martinez felt sad that he may miss out on work and time with his family. However, he quickly understood that a diabetes diagnosis wasn’t something he had to be scared of. With the help of his care team at JPS, Martinez began to find himself interested in learning about his diagnosis and found positivity, knowing that he would return to the things he loved once he learned how to manage his case. JPS granted Martinez access to education and resources, ultimately changing his perspective post-diagnosis. He hopes that his positive outlook encourages others to make their health a priority. #JPSHealthNetwork encourages #TeamJPS to embrace diversity and their own core values. This month, we celebrate the richness of Tribal culture and Native nations. Native American Heritage Month is an opportunity for us to share the stories of our team members with Indigenous roots. “Celebrating Native American Heritage Month at JPS has allowed me to feel supported across the network. There are often many stereotypes surrounding my culture, and JPS has helped break that barrier down by spreading education and awareness of Native American history. Sharing my culture with those around me makes me feel whole, and I am happy to be a part of that education.” Cindy Winter, PhD, FAHRA, CRA, Director, Radiology and Patient Transportation

#JPSHealthNetwork wants to help you prepare to fall back into standard time! With the upcoming time change, it is important to pay attention to potential safety risks. Daylight Saving Time will occur on November 3 at 2 a.m. ? Follow these tips for a smooth transition: 1. Be sure you are getting enough sleep to reduce exhaustion, 2. Gradually shift your daily routines to get your body used to the change. 3. Drive with caution. It may be darker during morning and evening commutes. 4. In case of a roadside emergency, prepare a kit with flashlights, batteries, and reflective clothing to keep in the car.
