Those who have knowledge on SPC can articulate in any discussions/interviews with some of the pointers below - how they compile the voice of customers and critical customer requirements - from the SIPOC how they establish the CTQs , CTBs, CTPs - The flow down of CTQs to CTBs and CTPs such as cost of quality , defects, PPM, RTY, efficiency etc can be tracked using control charts - at the process level the parameters capabilities to be established with cP, CPK and variation reduction opportunities identified with critical data collection mechanisms in place - in summary the action plan is developed based on scientific statistical data behaviour derived either from population or from statistical sampling techniques.

In my experience, the defining feature of a QC role in manufacturing is being the universal bad guy, the thorn in the side, the bearer of bad news. It is your job, very, very often, to tell the buyers their material isn’t good enough, the line operators they skipped a step, and management that we won’t meet the deadline because the finished product is out of spec. None of them wants to hear from you. None of them wants you around. You are paid to “pump the brakes,” and nothing shows that you take that responsibility seriously better than some honest anecdotes about the innate tension of doing QC well. (But have a sense of humor about it!)
