Initially hesitant about using technology in class, the pandemic forced me to go online. To my surprise, I found it more convenient to teach than before. A big difference -- for the better -- was that it became much easier to share resources while teaching. I would keep links to reading text and from YouTube ready before the class. Once class began, I would share it with students and do a diagnostic test based on their learnings immediately. I could check how many of the students actually read/watched what I had told them to and how much they had learnt of it.

All the students in a course are not of equal capability and knowledge. There are significant knowledge gaps and background in course topics among the students registered in a course. In my textile printing practical course, encouraging the students collaboration significantly helps the search of fabrics to be printed, quality of printing chemicals to be used, and the search of resource for the preparation of screen to be used in textile screen printing. The said student collaboration allows the students remote learning, and to learn more in short time and do the course work on time, which is otherwise more challenging and time demanding.

I like to come up with creative projects and assessments. One project I like assign is to create a podcast episode about whatever topic we are studying at the moment. For example if you teach U. S. History, you can have students write and record a podcast episode about the Emancipation Proclamation, the 20th Amendment, or a current event! Students can record their podcast episodes on Flipgrid.

Resources for remote learning are useful for student learning. An example is Black Board System, that we are using. It helps to place the course presentations, digital handouts, notes etc. and allow the students to drop the assignment digitally. The lectures may be recorded that are useful for students reference studies. WhattsApp group are found to be useful for remote counselling, guidance and learning of students for the emerging needs of the course understanding.

You can't just open the textbook and start reading, as this would likely result in the most boring class ever. Be Interactive with students: A good teacher appreciate how the way he is teaching affecting the students on continuous basis during a lecture session. He should attempt to know how the students are getting involved and making the understanding of the topic. Through individually approaching the students, a teacher can realized how much a student is involved in the lecture. This exercise will help the teacher to know the weak points of lecture and the weak points of student. This one way of improving the classroom teaching and understanding of students.

In my experience, it is more difficult to lead students to success for online courses offered in an asynchronous mode since they require a huge deal of self-discipline and commitment. A technique to keep students engaged is to set milestone topics where students receive a badge or some other recognition for completing part of the course. Instead, if a course is synchronous, this is what I implement: 1) setting expectations in terms of the technology required (camera, microphone, etc.); 2) alternating theoretical and practical activities to grasp students' attention; 3) if the platform used to deliver the course allows, fostering group collaboration through breakdown rooms; 4) asking students to list the 3 top takeaways from the session.
