Sometimes leaving a job is not because things are bad, or you are not enjoying the work. In my case I had the best leadership, crazy support and fantastic work experience. I wanted to delve deeper into an area of work and tried to find opportunities within the organisation to pivot my role into that field but despite everyone's effort we couldn't find one. This led me to search for opportunities outside and I got all the help from my leadership in making me understand how this new opportunity will be good and what are the limitations of this opportunity. In this day & age, getting retrenched is no indicator of your capabilities. Be prepared with a factual / objective assessment of your earlier performance ( try getting some references). - Don't complain about systemic deficiencies at your earlier org. Every org has its own share of them. Don’t scare off the new hiring team by wearing your rebel hat.

Are these company values aligned with your values? Is its environment healthy and encourages growth? If yes, you'll be more likely to feel happy in your new workplace. Don't underestimate the value of being happy at work.

Tailor to the Role: The reason must aligns with the job you're applying for. If the new role offers something your old job didn’t, highlight that. This itself reflect self awareness.

No need for long story as your interviewers are busy people as well.
