I’ve been fortunate enough to land several roles that I wasn’t properly qualified for during the course of my career. This was possible because I had the courage to apply myself before I knew what I was doing knowing full well that I was going to make a lot of mistakes. I’m sure you’ve heard of a “growth mindset” and I truly believe it is the secret sauce. I try to stay curious, challenge myself to try something new often even if I suck at it to begin with. My ego takes many knocks for extended periods of time but then I get the knack of it and it feels amazing to get better at something. It’s also really good for your brain’s neurogenesis.

Be open to changes! With different interfaces (smart watches, smart glasses etc.) and different tech (AI etc.) ux becomes more than just how we interact with your typical screens. It becomes being considerate for the concerns that users have when they use these new technology and if we address them to allow an easy integration into their lives. Set aside time to explore these and being observant in our daily lives!

Something that always works for me, regardless of the discipline, is to stay in constant learning, especially now that new technologies emerge every day. The way things are done can change daily, and I am surprised by the number of people who end up wasting time due to their lack of adaptability. So, learning new things turns you into a problem solver!

Networking is vital in UX, just as it is in any field. Attend industry events, join social media groups, and participate in local meetups or online forums. These interactions provide valuable insights and opportunities for sharing experiences.

Create content targetted to the audience you want to connect to. Put yourself out there, offer value and the right people will start reaching out to you. Instead of only showing your UX portfolio, perhaps pick problems and offer how you would solve them. Redesign UX and provide a sneak peak to draw interest. Check out and be curious with other people’s work. Tell them what you like about their work and ask about their process, UX philosopies. Collaborate.

- Engage with Professional Communities: Join professional networks, online forums, or groups related to your field. These communities can provide support, insights, and resources for learning. - Collaborate on Projects: Seek opportunities to work on projects that require the use of new technologies. Hands-on experience is one of the best ways to learn.

Networking remains invaluable regardless of career stage. Actively engage with peers, industry professionals, and thought leaders to stay connected and informed about industry developments. Networking opens doors to new opportunities, collaborations, and insights in a changing technological landscape.

Join Professional Groups: Engage with professional organizations and online communities such as UXPA, AIGA, and local UX meetups to expand your network and exchange knowledge. Attend Conferences: Participate in industry conferences and events to meet like-minded professionals and learn from leading experts.

When you are in UX, do not confine yourself to digital only. Look around yourself, UX is everywhere. Spend some time to observe, think, visualise, absorb the essence of it. Atualmente as companhias e principalmente os setores vinculados a tecnologia, já atuam com as metodologias ágeis, mas a depender da interpreta??o desses métodos, podem até n?o ser os mais apropriados de acordo com seu modelo de negócio e cultura organizacional, mas nem por isso se inviabiliza, pois a metodologia é maleável e poderá ser implementada num formato que mais agregue valor para o negócio. Isso aliado às boas práticas de Design Thinking, eleva o nível de performance e capacidade de entrega do seu time.

When products and experiences morph at such quick pace as they do today, the need to stay agile gets amplified. As UX designers, we have more data than ever before to inform our decisions, however, we must remember that we are (still) designing for human beings and their needs and preferences change regularly. In my experience, centering on the desired outcomes for the users help inform the early project development while gathering feedback and regular intervals streamlines the development reducing production costs and delivering better outcomes.

The best way to truly learn something is to teach it. I firmly believe that. The better you become at teaching a concept, the deeper and more robust you know it. The second law of thermodynamics states that in a closed system, the system will always proceed toward a state of greater entropy. In your late career, you will always find people to mentor, and professionals to guide. However, the transfer of knowledge is never unidirectional. There is always a larger feedback loop. While dealing with newer professionals, it is important to understand that they are always finding ways to make things easier for themselves, given the advent of tech and accessibility. New-age professionals have a lot to teach. By guiding them, you engage with new perspectives, skills, and tools that can contribute greatly to your own workflow.

When’s the last time you paused to reflect? This usually happens post sprint or launches. Reflect with your team to continue sharpening the saw together.

It's beneficial to document self-reflection through a diary, journal, or blog. Sharing these reflections with a trusted individual can provide an objective perspective. I often find that I either overestimate or underestimate myself, so having an objective viewpoint helps me to "self-correct."

Self reflection can also be uncomfortable as it'll show you the flaws you may have. It's OK. Just understand that feedback isn't directed at you, it's FOR you. It's a tool for you, not a weapon pointed against you.

Exploring cross industries throughout our careers will help us build a strong fundamental and high uprising skillset we have in our desired role. I have been to some different industries starting from healthcare, finance, all the way to beauty brand. This helps us to be even more empathize on what the world needs in different point of views. This makes me realize that the skills exploration was a never ending journey. We just have to stay hungry, stay foolish.

Find your own path. It could be what everyone else is doing or it could be unique to you. Either way, understand that their isn't necessarily one way to build solutions. So don't try to build all your project or solutions by the book. There's no such thing. What you know are just standard practices used to guide newbies and for conventional products.
