Always remember that expert of any field is expert due to the fact that he or she has sound understanding of basic concepts and principles. In case of accounting, one should be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the following: 1 - Basic Accounting Concepts (Going Concern, Matching Concept, Accrual Concept etc.) 2 - International and Local accounting standards and regulations. 3 - Basic corporate laws applicable for almost all types of companies. 4 - Basic taxation laws applicable for almost all types of companies. 5 - Familiarity with ERPs or accounting software. 6 - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook etc.

Any experience dealing with highly complex entity structures and multi ledger intercompany journal entries and reconciliation are worth highlighting.
