Internship provides one major tool which is a guided experience. I have learned that the "what", "how" and "why" questions are very important for the interns. The guided experience means one can gain experience while being handheld by experts in a professional environment. Borrowing a leaf from Navin Mistry's comment, the Intern should arm herself with an attitude to use every opportunity in deepening and broadening her skills. She must understand that internship would be temporary, thus, time spent must to impactful.

Building a network during an internship is very necessary. Making friendships with colleagues, workers, and your immediate supervisor is necessary. Communicating with them also will give you substantial exposure and experience.

I remember I graduated from university in engineering 42 years ago. After hiring in the design engineering department. I asked my supervisor to design some dam (I think I a professional in design). My supervisor look at me and asked me what a dam consists and look like. Oh my god, I have never design such that. My supervisor assigned me to be a design drawings keeper for the drawing section, instead. After that all completed design drawings will be pass to me for keeping. One year later, I resigned and be the employee a reputation engineering consultant company. My knowledge is come from the drawing keeper duty. I have seen many type of spillway, sluice gates, dams and many calculation sheets. I learnt from that by automatically.

Internships in companies are very useful for design engineers to discern and test whether the company where they are doing their internship motivates them to continue developing in that type of environment. One of the most challenging aspects is deciding in which sector you want to develop both professionally and personally. The best way to figure this out is by trying different options. When you are young and starting your professional career, you can afford to try and make mistakes, actually you should do it. Recovering from a bad decision is much easier at this stage of life than when you are older, have a family, etc.

I would helpful to build our career in EPC industry. Additional soft skill and network it's great benefit to build our career.
