First, we should evaluate the suppliers’ performance records and their production capabilities, making sure to check for relevant certifications such as ISO 9001. Next, we must conduct sampling and testing of incoming items according to the appropriate standards before allowing them into the production line (IQC). We can also perform periodic visits to the suppliers’ sites to ensure they comply with quality standards. After this evaluation, we can establish long-term contracts with suppliers who demonstrate better performance, thereby creating an incentive for maintaining high quality. Finally, if a supplier continually fails to meet the standards, we should be prepared to replace them with a new one.

Maintaining product quality when external vendors cut corners requires a proactive approach. Implement stringent supplier quality audits and establish clear expectations through detailed contracts and quality agreements. Foster strong relationships with vendors by offering training on your standards and conducting regular performance evaluations. Implement incoming inspection protocols and leverage tools like ISO standards, Six Sigma, or SPC to monitor and control quality at every stage. Most importantly, create a culture of accountability and collaboration, ensuring that quality remains a shared priority across the supply chain.

There are preventive actions measures that can be used (1) Supplier selection process & supply agreement, with clear quality clause and legal/financial terms. Regular discussion, incl. performance review & changes in supplier's operations, incl. People, materials, process, etc. (2) Incoming material controls, supported with reliable CoA (3) Critical to Quality control, incl. Sampling check on critical stage as early detection (4) Product Release inspection to make sure all are in-spec. Post sales monitoring, incl. Closed customer connectivity is also a key part to ensure that prompt feedbacks & supports are available to response/managr any complaints
