La automatización y las herramientas de gestión optimizan el flujo de trabajo. Besides helping to free up capacity of the leader, delegation is a very effective means of grooming and training the next generation of leaders that can take over from you when the time comes. I always remember a saying that the job of a leader is to put himself out of the job, and that can only happen when there is a ready pool of talents to take over from the leader. Thus, delegation can be viewed as a leadership imperative.

Employees want to be trusted. It is through training and delegation that any employee can be able to do the task at hand. It is important to allow an employee to grow entrusting them with new tasks whether there are instructions or not. Seeing that the employee can take on new tasks, it boosts confidence, and strengthens the overall productivity of the team.

It’s best to have a full view of the tasks at hand. Lay it down and determine the criticality of each tasks and dependencies, if any. Identify tasks that need direct oversight from you (consider significance of outcome/impact) and delegate the rest to people who can best serve them, and provide them with the support that they need (e.g. create capacity and/or allocate additional personnel, provide the tool/software) that will help them become more efficient and effective in completing the task. Also, hold regular team huddles to keep track of everyone’s progress which can also help identify and address potential roadblocks.
