We actually do face this in our company as we have three used languages in the company: Arabic, English and Brasilian Portuguese. For Brasilians some only speak Portuguese. For this and during interviews we always make sure we prepare questions to be asked before the interview and have the fluent person who speaks both languages take handle of the interview, while navigating the questions we all agreed on and collects answers. We record the interview, and we have an instant on-spot translation through Slack, and questions that arise through the interview are also typed there to be asked by the interviewer. 1. Utilizing clear and concise language, leveraging technology for real-time translation or interpretation services, and providing candidates with ample time to express themselves can help bridge language barriers. In cross-border interviews, don't be afraid to say I don't understand the question or the answer. None should see that as a language barrier, even people from the same culture or that speak the same language must reconfirm that the message or communication is clear on both sides.

To ensure effective communication in cross-border interviews, it's crucial to consider language nuances, accents, and cultural differences. First, use clear and simple language, avoiding jargon or idiomatic expressions that may confuse the interviewee. Speak slowly and articulate your words to help non-native speakers understand better. Be patient and provide extra time for responses. Active listening is key—ask follow-up questions to clarify understanding. Adapt your tone and body language to be inclusive and supportive. Finally, be mindful of cultural differences in communication styles, such as formality or directness, to build rapport and foster a comfortable environment.
