For education path, transportation engineers may continue with PHD and after succesful defending their theis. One can join as professors. Road designers need to be upto date with the guidelines and circulars issued by MoRTH. While designing of junctions and other urban roads, road designers in conjunction with transport planners shall develop the details analysis for the road with several alternatives and impact on the level of service of the road to defend the project if any unexpected challenge encounters by local residents to protect their interest in securing their property in the road widenings/land acquisition.

Nowadays working as a transportation planner is very demanding due to the need for increasing infrastructure project construction and their management.
