I would add letter writing campaigns because they allow you to inform without interruptions, they can be audience specific and the recipient may be required to respond as well. Also consider partnerships with like minded organizations to assist with networking and out reach efforts.

If the targeted audience of your outreach includes community members that lack digital skills due to the digital divide, having a boots-on-the-ground and relational/communal outreach approach is key to building a symbiotic level of getting your information out as getting community members to engage and participate. Be willing to have paper material for the community to have in their hands, as this is useful for trusted members within the community to get more folks engaged.

I suggest what I call "boots on the ground", door-to-door, community forums, focus groups made up of community members, steering committee of 10-12 people representative of the community, signage and other written communications, involve trusted people and organizations within communities to get buy-in, trust and support.

Community member without digital tool can be reached through meetings at tribal Authorities where every individual can express their voice about issues bothering them.

Alternative methods to digital communications tools include social interactions such as face to face conversations, public meetings, others are handwritten letters, placards, postcards etcetera where views and opinions are communicated.

Written communications are important and should a part of every strategy. They should include the "message" details and facts, be visually appealing and created for targeted populations. Pictures should reflect the population the initiative is trying to reach and it should be easy to understand for the average reader. Additionally consider if additional materials need to be developed in Spanish or other languages.

This could also include creating a centralized communications headquarters in the community. The headquarters should be centrally located and in a space where additional traffic (foot and auto) is welcomed. A community message board should be established in a conspicuous and accessible location of the venue.

Liasons may be called many things such as patient navigators or outreach workers. Collaborate with those positions that already exist to get your messages across to the people they reach.

Faith-based organizations are great community liaisons. Worth with them to train members/volunteers would be if great benefit.

A similar example to this was an estate in Nigeria inhabited by the wealthy Nigerians but surrounded by the poor in their large population. However,some few group of people engaged themselves and englighten the rest of the community of the Future safety and the security of their family and this led to building of ICT centre, scholarship to the children of the poor and the hosting end of the year community carnival and gift distribution. I realised that engaging our community either through public campaign and distribution of flyers are fastest ways of passing information to people this days because this avail those who couldn't be reached in a gathering will encounter the flying flyer,access the information and act accordingly.

I concur with the statement. I would add endeavor to connect with corporations that offer grants and venture capitalist that issue financial aid to organizations to purchase the technology tools for online communications, networking, marketing and business.

Whether or not community members have "digital communication tools," collaborative events are critical to getting a sense of the community. I've used digital tools, and most don't give a true sense of what stakeholders are thinking, just what the most vocal members believe. To engage community members with collaborative events, be prepared to use printed materials, community liaisons, and phone calls to make sure people actually attend. The worst feeling is putting on a workshop and getting just a few people to show. The key is using clear language to explain what is at stake, making sure the time and location work for most people, and that you account for childcare and transportation, if need be.
