For example, "we are progressing our finalists to an on-site panel" vs "We would like you to come on-site". I also recommend being open on what went well and how the priority skills/experience may have shifted throughout the process. Emphasis on how they are a valuable candidate but due to tangible shifts in the org the team has to go another direction. If I know of a trustworthy recruiter on the agency side, I'll also refer them to the recruiter to assist.
