I've always thought that when a project mandate is gotten, the project manager and lead business analyst need to interpret it into another document that encapsulates their vision of how the project should be executed and outlines their perspectives according to their discipline and project roles. the 2 leaders need to appreciate their perspectives and generate a project vision document. This way vision sync between project managers and business analysts can be achieved easily.

By working together to gather requirements and boundaries, business analysts and project managers can: - Avoid costly misunderstandings - Prevent scope creep - Stay focused on the same goals - Deliver a successful project that meets everyone's needs Regular scope reviews keep the project on track and ensure that everyone's still working towards the same objectives. By reminding both parties of the business outcomes the project should deliver, you can bring attention back to the bigger picture, helping both the BA and PM see that their efforts are part of a shared mission.

Over the course of of many varied projects I have found that agreeing scope for initial deliverables (mvp) is where most conflicts between BA & PM occur. This is because delivery of the overall project focusses the PM on linear delivery but delivery of capabilities is the focus of the BA. It is therefore onerous on the BA to explain how the capabilities deliver value to the sponsor and how they grow, through iteration, to deliver the end goal

Their role is focused on the project's overall scope and managing the resources to ensure enough bandwidth is available to deliver the project on time. The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding the business' needs, ensuring they have a good idea of what is expected from specific functionality, and ensuring that they collaborate with the project manager in identification of risks and gaps. Both roles need to listen to each other and collaborate to assist in the overall project success.

Each work role and responsibilities do create excellent job done. We gather aroing in the office, do discuss the problem statement, this makes HALF of the work done. Rest of the taste must be made clear by the roles and responsibilities.

Yes compromise! - the business world isnt static. 99% of all projects got delayed - none project in the world is known to be in time, in budget or in scope. Thats the reality you have to accept as a project manager. The skill is to manage the deviations, to explain it to your customer, why the compromise was necessary for the sake of continuation of the project. This is an organisational approach. You have to have this mindset in your whole organisation or employers who arent part of projects, will see this as a waste of time and will disagree with the knowledge transfer. Disagreeing leads to disapproving - and disapproving stops the learning curve. So if you want to encourage continuous learning, make sure that the guidelines are in place, that leadership is on board with time conusming but fruitable knowledge transfer to improve the (project) organisation by reviews, lessons learned session, team building sessions, joint trainig sessions and so on.

Always be learning no matter what role you are in. Even if you don't need it in the current project you probably will in another. Encourage others to learn and learn from each others.
