Balancing user experience and security in IT operations. How can you ensure both are prioritized effectively?

To balance user experience and security in IT, make security measures like single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) easy to use so they don’t interrupt workflow. Keep systems updated for security without slowing them down. Train users so they know the security basics without making it a big hassle. Regularly check in with users and adjust as needed to keep things running smoothly and securely.

I think the security requirement is the key, providing a real seamless password free experience, all the path has to be secure. Normal users doesn't care how an application is being accessed, they want it fast and easy to use. So it is the company responsibility to secure the access, actually all companies involved. For example, Linked is integrated with a corporate company which provides some cloud services, so I can use my LinkedIn credentials to sign in and log in into this application, so it crucial that LinkedIn evaluate and provide acknowledgement to this application, and not only, the application must be proved secured. If we are looking for a seamless secure acces, the intired application must be secure.

In any UX development and other technology projects, security should be considered during the planning, modeling, development, and release stages to protect against complicity, bad actors, intrusion, and unauthorized access so that all UX-generated data are protected. Besides MFA, ensuring data is encrypted in transit is also very important. It is also essential to have a robust coding structure to prevent SQL injection when considering the database used to store the UX data.

They need to make sure they are communicating with the customer and improving the security. If we as looking for a password less security, they must provide all data and information and controls to acknowledge the user their access is secure

If the assessment is based on the risk it is ok. Scanning for vulnerabilities is not fine, this is a must do, the question is how to deal with that, the priorization is being handled.

Policies must be simple, assertives and specially clear consequences. A company can have a amazing Policy, but if they use as part of culture and doesn't apply effectively it won't work.

Security awareness must part of a company culture, more the user as enrolled into more, they will imply in theirs working life, but a company must have Security policies, training, tests and awareness program, otherwise the ux won't be able to be measured. Security cannot be implied as an obligation

Implement SSO solutions to streamline access while maintaining security. I integrated SSO across our applications, allowing users to authenticate once & gain access to multiple systems. For instance, we deployed SSO using protocols like SAML & OAuth. This reduced the number of times users needed to log in, enhancing their experience while still enforcing strong security policies behind a single point of authentication. Choose and deploy security tools that prioritise ease of use. I selected security tools with intuitive interfaces & minimal impact on daily operations. For example, we implemented endpoint protection software that ran silently in the background, performing real-time threat detection without disrupting user activities.
