We always focus on the bad when it comes to cybersecurity incidents. However, there are good things that come from them as well. If you take the time to focus on lessons learned and why the incident happened in the first place, you can learn some key things that will help you better defend your organization in the future. Maybe you lacked insufficient monitoring or incident response policies? Maybe you were missing a key piece of security technology that would have helped contain the attack. If you do not perform incident analysis or an open and honest lessons learned after brief, you may likely suffer from a lot of the same mistakes your business suffered from during the last attack. Lastly, learn from other organizations mistakes too.

As a best practice, in all phases of incident management, it is crucial to: i) Act fast: in order to delay or prevent the intruder's malicious activities, like evidence erasing, data transfers, etc, if any. ii) Keep a record of time: in order to report incident details to the customer, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies, when required. We also use standard templates to prepare quick reports.
