Having a good portfolio showing my design work will help me get hired. I'll also keep up with what's new in the field by taking courses and going to events. By using my research background and learning design skills, I can become a UX designer.

UX researcher already possess enough experience to become UX designer because they already know the importance of the people in order to give a better solution. Being a UX designer is a more serious hand-using and eye-using job to make the research findings live and usable to all team members. Maybe some skills on the foundation of visual design would help them to quickly improve and start the design phase of the UX. It is also crucial to know that they need to be ready to get feedback from the team because, in my experience, the team is more engaged on giving many ideas on the solution when they see something that is easy to understand for their eyes. It means in the prototyping phase.

Observe existing designs and how the data has translated into the designs, start designing the same apps, once you feel like you have enough practice start designing and practicing by building different apps. Practice will help you translate your knowledge in research to design.
