Over the years I have tried many tools for mapping user journeys. Every time I hear about a new tool I will try and test the tool, as I am always looking for more efficient and timesaving tools that can help to optimise my work. The tool I return to is Lucid (Lucidchart), because of flexibility in use and the many templates that are available for all types of UX mapping. Whimsical, FigJam in Figma, even PowerPoint, keynote and Axure offer templates for many types of UX mapping.

Interestingly, there are lots of AI tools out there as well that can help you get things done faster. What I usually try to do is understand the ethos first. After that I craft the user journey and try to define a few details within the journey. Then I'll summarize all that and feed it into services like Relume, ChatGPT or Perplexity. Relume can help me generate sitemaps and wireframes pretty easily, and ChatGPT and Perplexity can help me with outlines and copies.

Analytics platforms provide quantitative user data ( How much??How many?How often?) that is vital in when analysing a product but is most valuable when used with qualitative research methods. Some platforms for analytics are Google Analytic, DataDog, ContentSquare, MixedPlanel, Hotjar, Adobe Analytics and Optimizely. it is recommended to try the products and see what is most suitable for your product and organisation.

Heatmaps are useful in gaining information about what users are interacting with on your product. ContentSquare and Hotjar are some of the tools that provide heatmaps as part of user behaviour analysis. Heatmaps are also helpful in identifying areas on your product that users are not noticing., e.g if you have designed a feature in the bottom of a website and data from heatmaps show what users only view the opt section of the website. This informs you need to move the feature and place it higher up on the website and then analyse the heatmaps if there are any changes in user behaviour.

Microsoft Clarity, oh my love ?? It offers a range of features designed to provide insights into user behavior. - Session recordings, which allow to replay user sessions and observe interactions as they happened. - Heatmaps are another significant feature, offering visual representations of where users click, scroll, and move on a page, helping to identify popular areas and elements that may be causing confusion. - Machine learning-powered insights, which analyze user data to offer suggestions for improvements.
