This question is directed to agencies?! LSP's who translate across multiple (more than 2) languages are scarce no? Freelancers usualy handle one source language and one target language so building glossaries is rather simple. Maybe you consider language variants as multiple languages.

I do this simply: 1. I use specific dictionaries. 2. I Google the source and the target term. If the images match, this means I have found the right term. Besides, I have reference files in which I have already translated and approved terminology. Bonus: I research the term on the company's website to get clear idea about it.
