If you’re wrestling with the choice, then family matters. So consider that when it’s all said and done, the only people that will remember how many hours you worked is your family.

Deciding between a promotion and family time is a challenge many of us face. For me, it’s not about choosing one over the other—it’s about alignment. Family is foundational, but career growth can support their well-being through financial stability and personal fulfillment. The key is weighing the opportunity: Does the promotion align with long-term goals, and do the benefits outweigh the trade-offs like time or stress? Open conversations with loved ones help gauge the impact and build support. It’s also crucial to explore solutions like flexible work options to maintain balance. Leadership is about staying true to your values while embracing growth. How do you navigate this balance? I would love to hear other perspectives.

Start by reflecting on your core values and long-term goals. What truly matters most to you? Consider the impact on your well-being and relationships. Evaluate the promotion: Is it aligned with your career aspirations? Will it significantly improve your financial situation or job satisfaction? Assess your current family dynamics: Are there pressing needs or milestones you don't want to miss? Sucess isn't just about climbing the corporate ladder. It's about creating a fulfilling life balance. Consider negotiating flexible work arrangements or discussing your concerns. The right choice is personal. Trust your instincts and prioritise what brings you genuine happiness and fulfillment. What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I believe you need to think in what makes you happy . A promotion can be taken as long as you organise your life so that your family doesn’t suffer from it . The key is your support team and how you organise your time and ensure your family gets what they need and you are present for them . This makes sense to take the promotion only if you wish to have it , if it aligns with what you deeply want for your career and your personal development and if it is the right company . You and your family should not suffer from it so it should fit everybody’s needs and your work life balance . Flexibility and balance matter .
