I have adopted the approach to work to the ‘head office time zone’. This means 1 person adapts their schedule rather that the whole team. Remembering not to add additional cost or complications to remote work is important. It should be a win for the business - not a distraction.

Cultivating trust when walking abroad is critical. Here's how I think about it: 1. You are your reputation. Make it serve you by always being honest about what you can and can't achieve while working abroad/remotely. 2. Identify pinch points and allocate a 2nd in command to step in if for whatever reason you are unable to keep a committment. 3. Constant quality communication in both directions (from/to you/your team) is paramount. 4. Actions speak. Words don't matter (in this context). Deliver. Deliver. Deliver. The easiest way to destroy trust is to not deliver what you promise. Cultivating and keeping trust are critical components of working abroad/remotely effectively. Make it your number 1 priority and it will serve you well.
