You're tasked with deploying a new robotic solution. How do you prioritize testing tasks to meet deadlines?
When introducing a new robotic system, strategic testing is key to meeting your project deadlines. Consider these steps to prioritize tasks:
- Identify critical functions that must be tested first for operational stability.
- Break down tasks into smaller, manageable units and set micro-deadlines.
- Utilize automated testing tools where possible to accelerate the process.

When deploying a new robotic solution, prioritizing testing tasks is crucial for meeting deadlines. First, I focus on identifying core functionalities that impact overall performance. Conducting risk assessments helps prioritize tests that address the highest potential failure points. Collaborating with cross-functional teams ensures alignment on priorities and timelines. Utilizing automated testing tools can streamline the process, allowing for quicker iterations. I also advocate for incremental testing, integrating feedback loops to adapt and refine the solution efficiently. By balancing thoroughness with agility, we can ensure a successful deployment that meets both quality standards and project deadlines.

Very important: perform all the functional test at your facilities before sending the robot to the customer's premises. Easy, right? Well, many vendors still don't work in this way...

Here’s how I typically handle testing: 1. I focus first on testing the most critical and high-risk features, such as those that ensure operational stability or safety. 2. I heavily rely on automated testing tools to speed up repetitive tasks and ensure consistent results, especially for regression testing. 3. I break down the system into smaller modules and test each one individually. This method aligns well with the smaller tasks approach, as it allows me to isolate and address specific components before integrating everything. 4. I document all test cases, results, and bugs thoroughly in tools like Jama, ADO, Confluence. This ensures traceability, especially when working with automated systems or when working with CFT-teams.

When deploying a new robotic solution, I would prioritize testing tasks by focusing on critical functions first—those that are essential to the system’s core operations and safety. I would then create a testing schedule that ensures key features are thoroughly evaluated early on to identify and resolve major issues promptly. Prioritizing high-risk areas and tasks that are dependent on others for completion ensures that testing progresses efficiently. I would also allocate time for iterative testing, allowing for quick adjustments, while ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
