System Architecture requires to focus on Big picture, Make sure you cover end to end. And for that you need to make sure you collect and challenge all assumptions. Analyze all logic critically and diversify your thinking. Collect all the facts, challenges, value addition/Benefits, possibilities , new ideas and feelings and intuitions. Try 6 hats method too improve your critical thinking.

Improving critical thinking skills is crucial for System Architecture employees as it can help them more effectively analyze technical challenges, identify innovative solutions, and make informed decisions. From my point of view, I was looking for complex problems or scenarios to solve, striving to use critical thinking to analyze the situation, identify the root causes of the problems and propose innovative solutions. Furthermore, I also forced myself to take time to think about complex problems and evaluate the pros and cons of different possible solutions. This practice can help develop the ability to analyze situations from different perspectives. Finally using consistent practice and perseverance in critical thinking.

4 Think critically

A fourth way to improve your critical thinking is to think critically. This involves applying your critical thinking skills to all aspects of your work, from planning and designing to coding and testing. Doing so can help you avoid errors, optimize performance, and ensure quality. To think critically, you should define and understand the problem and the solution precisely, gather and evaluate relevant information from multiple sources, develop and compare alternative solutions or approaches based on logic and evidence, implement and test the chosen solution in a systematic manner, and review and revise it based on feedback and results.

Learn more about the existing system that you are trying to automate. Talk to all the stakeholders and/or their representatives to learn about their expectations on the new system that is getting developed. This will induce your thinking skills to architect a better system that provides a functionally complete solution that takes care of the needs of all stakeholders and more. Think not only about the functional aspects but also about the various quality categories. Think explicitly how each quality category will manifest itself in the system being developed.
