First of all, we have to admit that our day only has 24 hours and we need to sleep ... at least sometimes :) 1. Try to check how complex these task really are. I received projects that had many words, but a lot of repetitions. 2. If the deadlines are too tight. Try to renegotiate the deadlines. 3. If you cannot move the deadlines, you might also need to decline tasks.

When translation deadlines pile up, staying calm and focused is crucial. Here’s how I handle the pressure: Break tasks into steps: Dividing the project into smaller sections makes it less daunting and helps maintain momentum. Time-blocking: Set specific periods for focused work, avoiding distractions during these blocks. This keeps productivity high. Take short breaks: Using deep-breathing exercises during breaks helps reset mentally and stay clear-headed for the next task.

There's one thing I've learnt over the years - take regular breaks, have a nap, if possible, go for a walk or jog, even though it might sound counterproductive. Tiredness and stress lead to lower productivity, less attention and concentration. When I take regular breaks and rest or exercise, I return to my task fresh therefore I am faster compared to when I constantly work, especially in panic mode. Another piece of advice would be to have a clear priority list and to break down tasks into smaller, more manageable and realistic chunks, each with their own micro deadline. This provides a sense of control over work thus reducing the stress.
