Go back to the single priority of the business for the coming year. Initially the word “priority” wasn’t plural; it was singular. The intent was to focus one the ONE most critical thing. Today, “priorities” get watered down and often include 10-20 things. Go back to the single most important priority for the organization and build on that.

In my experience, when stuck in a strategic planning rut, it's crucial to shake things up and approach the situation from a fresh perspective. Experimenting is awesome! There are so many ways you can get out of your usual comfort zone. Networking is one of the best ways to learn. There are also plenty of resources online. Unlimited rather! Sometimes what works for me is taking a break and not thinking about the task at hand for some time and coming back to it with fresh perspectives.

Getting stuck in strategic planning often stems from a wait for perfection, which limits real-world feedback. By breaking down the strategy into manageable, testable segments with specific evaluation points, we enable ongoing adaptation and refinement. Breaking out of a strategic planning rut is to embrace the ongoing nature of strategic planning. Identifying what is working well and what requires adjustment or enhancement has been pivotal in steering strategies in the right direction. Engaging my mentor as a partner and facilitator in this review and revision process has provided valuable insights and perspectives that have enriched the strategic planning journey. This iterative approach to strategic planning has not only enhanced my and my colleagues' agility with confidence and purpose.

Breaking the thinking process, go back to square one in the thinking process. Review each steps and perhaps take a different idea this time. Get everyone thinks one or two different path to take. Usually will come out with answers that will fit into the objective desired.

Celebrating and rewarding progress, no matter how small, is a crucial part of maintaining motivation and morale during strategic planning. It's also an opportunity to reinforce the value of the process and the skills gained. Additionally, sharing stories and lessons learned not only benefits the individual or team but also creates a culture of learning and growth within the organization. This culture can be a powerful tool in overcoming future strategic planning ruts.

It's important to gauge the results and progress whenever possible when working on long term strategies. Adjust early and when required.

When you look up things you find answers that's what you need to do keep looking keep searching keep studying and watch carefully that you're listening not just hearing the feedback whether with the ears to the actions and your inner witness

I recently did a 24 hour Digital Detox with no electronic devices of any kind for an entire day. Initially I felt the same kind of withdrawal symptoms as when you get off caffeine, but eventually I settled into a very creative space. Give yourself time to hear yourself without distraction and the inner voice in you will grow louder and louder. I didn't go into this experiment trying to find a solution for writers block but I stumbled upon the best one that I have for that problem. Disconnect and recharge :)

First, step back and give yourself a bird’s-eye view of the situation. Sometimes, you’re too close to the problem to see the way out. Shake things up by bringing in fresh perspectives; a chat with someone outside your bubble can spark new ideas. Break down the big, scary goal into smaller, manageable tasks to avoid feeling overwhelmed. And don’t forget to celebrate the small wins—it's like laying down planks over that mud. They’ll help carry you and your team across to solid ground. Keep experimenting and stay flexible; sometimes the most unexpected detour leads you right out of the rut.

Sometimes it is good to get a fresh perspective. By bringing in people from different walks of the business ecosystem can help bring insights that can break the mould. It can be consumers, members of staff in the field, partners, product teams, support staff - anyone outside the inner circle of the strategy planning team.
