1 Define the problem

You can use tools like the 5 Whys, the Fishbone Diagram, or the Problem Tree to help you analyze and define the problem.

The first step to solve any problem especially in electronics is to understand the root-cause of the problem along with the trade-offs you need to make to solve it. In the analog world everything has a trade-off , you try increasing the bandwidth and that might impact the power budget and so on. Understanding the overall requirement and making informed trade-off decisions is the key to good design. And for the other things , Steve Jobs once said " There are certain things that electrons just won't do! " , so knowing what is a physics limitation v/s engineering limitation is also important. If you are limited by physics , thats usually a good problem to have.
