You’re struggling to proofread your copywriting. How can you improve your skills?

One of the simplest hacks that I have found to be rather helpful is to change the font of your copy. For example, if you have written the article in Ariel, change it to Comic Sans. Now proofread it. You'd be surprised to discover how easy proofreading becomes once you make this simple change. You can always reverse the format to its original state before submitting or sharing it.

Having a text reader recite copy is my last step in the editing process. Not only does this reveal spelling and punctuation errors I might have missed, it also reveals wordy and awkward phrasings, which is a nice capability.

Even an hour is better than nothing. Online tools like Grammarly and the Edison Editor can help, but I also like activating voice controls to have my system read it out loud to me. No matter what, always make sure you read your intro, conclusion, and headlines if you don't have time for everything.

Online resources and tools can help you proofread your copy. But it cannot replace another human. Always ask someone else to proofread and critique your copy, because the impact of your copy is much more than the grammar and spelling, it's about content, clarity and conversion.

Taking a break between creating copy is essential. Often at times, I am writing about a lot of different things. I prefer to take a 10-15 mins break between writing and reviewing the copy. One of the best things that I've learned in copywriting is NEVER PROOFREAD YOURSELF — you might end up missing the silliest of mistakes. What I do is, whenever I write any copy (or content in general) I make 3 of my colleagues, read the piece. This way I get: (1) Feedback on what to change (2) Suggestions to improve grammar/spelling I've been doing it for a long now and it has improved my typos, or any small mistakes!

Try to avoid proofreading your own copy as much as surgeons avoid operating on themselves. Sure, it can be done. But there's a lot of room for error.

My besy hack for proofreading: I love changing screens, If i've written in my laptop, I either change the theme (light to dark or vice versa). If I have a tablet, I will read in that. A change in environment can help you catch mistakes better.

I think this is a very easy task thanks to the amazing online grammar and spellingcheck software we have now. After writing and document check spelling and grammar either through Word Office, Google docs, AI tools, etc. And as a general rule never send a document you wrote in the same day, try to postpone for tomorrow and revisit it.
