I approach this issue by reminding myself of the project's main objective(s), it's usually in a problem statement of some sort. Ask, 'What are the top three SMART goals that will get you to that objective'? The more complex the project the more goals you'll have, but I've found 3 is manageable in high stress situations. Then, assess your skill set/experience for any gaps that would need to be addressed. If you find gaps, it's important to recognize and communicate any needed support. Maybe even negotiating a later deadline.

Rather than aiming for something broad like "Increase client base," go for a precise target, like "Land 10 new clients in the next quarter for our marketing firm." Write these goals down in a detailed business plan or strategy guide. A solid plan serves as a shared compass, ensuring everyone in our firm stays on the same page. Next, chunk down those goals. For instance, to ramp up social media buzz, plan daily actions such as crafting and lining up three captivating posts each day.

Understanding what things distract you is very important, because then you will be able to put yourself in the best conditions, be it the environment, utilizing music as a focus point or even adopting a preparation ritual, to help get in the zone. Being able to adapt by eliminating the distractions around you can make the difference in your productivity rate.

During those deep work periods, try to steer clear of peeking at non-urgent emails or getting caught up in long, off-topic chats with colleagues.

Here's a few suggestions to use these breaks for ensuring this peak more often than not: - Use beverages to refuel during breaks (could have a coke, too. But think of this as fuel for body, go for something fulfilling and healthy) - Could use some movement. Changing your surrounding just a bit and getting the blood+oxygen flowing across the body can improve productivity!

There's a number of different time management skills that can be used, such as practicing the Pomodoro technique. I approach this by working in the morning on harder more strategic work to maintain my focus. I've found the morning is a motivating time for peak performance and chunking into 90 min cycles promotes that. Later I use a combination of the Pomodoro technique which is a 5 min break every 25 min. and single tasking. I usually work on more simpler tasks compared to the morning work.

The Pomodoro Technique includes 25-minute bursts of focused work separated by shorter, 5-minute pauses to take a breath, stretch, and pause, and longer 15-minute breaks between timeboxes. You can adapt the classic Pomodoro Technique by using advanced timer apps that play scientifically designed music to boost concentration during work intervals.

Reflect: why can't you focus? Is it because of mental noise? Here are some of the possible reasons: your inner critic, worries and anxieties, daydreaming, recurring negative thoughts or beliefs about yourself, others, or situations, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, and mental clutter. An overload of thoughts and information can make it challenging to focus or make clear decisions.
