I have experienced that being collaborative is very dependent on understanding cultural differences and accepting them as a strength. This too works in collaboration, I personally may not be able to write code, though I can look at many different scenarios. When a team is formed and they come together to solve a problem, every individual has to know about every team member. their expressed strengths and weaknesses. It may take an investment of time, though in the long run it pays back.

It is always important to be neutral and open-minded when it comes to leading a team. If there is no sync amongst the teammates then a leader has to formulate an open forum to exchange views with respect to the defined objective and make sure that everybody gets to listen and share their respective POVs. After hearing the POVs of all the teammates, the leader must be in a position to show them the bigger picture of the objective which offers them learning, growth and exposure which may lead to attain the desired objective in a collective manner.

2 Build trust and rapport

Another factor that affects collaboration is the level of trust and rapport among team members. Trust is the foundation of any successful relationship, and it is especially important for BRM teams, who need to establish and maintain trust with various internal and external partners. To build trust and rapport within your team, you need to create a culture of openness, honesty, and respect. You also need to encourage feedback, recognition, and appreciation, and address any conflicts or issues promptly and constructively. Trust and rapport can help your team to communicate effectively, share ideas, and support each other.

3 Leverage diversity and strengths

A third aspect that can enhance collaboration is the diversity and strengths of your team. Diversity refers to the different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that your team members bring to the table. Strengths refer to the unique skills, talents, and abilities that your team members possess. As a BRM leader, you need to leverage both diversity and strengths to create a more innovative and productive team. You need to acknowledge and value the differences among your team members, and create opportunities for them to learn from each other. In my experience, it helps to understand team members' [communication] styles, in order to benefit fully from a diverse team, and ensure 'everyone gets to speak'. Some speak better in print. Sending an idea for thoughts prior to "the meeting" help those more hesitant to speak or who take longer to process to prepare their thoughts and contribute meaningfully. Those can be shared ahead of time and/or introduced during the meeting thus being incorporated into the discussion.

Every client and every project is different. A client from the hospitality industry might be dealt with very differently, as compared to a NBFC or an e-commerce one. They all have different objectives, expectations and their respective industries are full of nuances that take years to fully grasp. If you have a team coming from different backgrounds and age groups, don't feel afraid to learn from them and seek their input(s). Leverage this diversity to your benefit. Realize that one little gesture from them could be crucial in building or destroying your rapport and relationship with your client.
