DS is amazing field, but finding the perfect niche feels impossible right now. figuring out my ideal domain is crucial. Healthcare? Finance? Exploring online resources, webinars, even podcasts about data science applications in different fields feels like opening doors I never knew existed. What kind of problems are they tackling with data? What kind of data sets are they using? These are the questions that will light a spark. Maybe it's the intricate puzzles of the financial markets, or the potential to revolutionize healthcare. The key is finding that intersection – where my skills and interests meet a domain with a hunger for data-driven solutions. Once I find that sweet spot, the job search becomes a mission, not a slog.

I've always had a tough time figuring out what I want to do, not just in data science or IT, but in my whole life. DS jobs are everywhere, but where do I truly belong? It's not just about the title or the salary. I need to be honest about what gets me fired up. Do I crave the challenge of pushing boundaries with cutting-edge research, or is the satisfaction of real-world problem-solving more my style? Big company or scrappy startup – that culture matters. Do I thrive collaborating or enjoy diving deep solo? Maybe it's a role that blends research and practical solutions, in a team environment but with opportunities for independent work. The ideal domain could be anything, as long as it ignites my passion for using data to make a difference. Ultimately, it's about finding a role that aligns with my goals, not just my resume.

There are a lot of data science jobs in consultancy firms. These roles are usually client-facing. If you do not feel comfortable with that, an internal position might be better for you. There tend to be fewer internal roles out there, however.

This actually applies to any job. Don't choose it because they pay well, choose it because you like what they do. Do not expect that things will change because of you, company cultures, no matter it is a startup or large corporation, won't change because of new employees, no matter how good are we.

When I was searching for the Internship opportunities I faced the same situation as this. I didn't had a clear vision for what is the best suitable role for me as a Data Science student. Then I searched what are the companies that offer data science job roles. Then spoke with Data Scientist of that companies and asked about what are the projects that they have involved and what are the data science related roles for those projects and then identified the skills that required to handle those projects. Then I did my own comparison between my abilities ,skills and that companies required Skills . After that I identified the best fitted role for me.

that's not that hard today... AI responses are actually good enough for this stage. I would rely not in many engines but after check people that have worked there in linkedin and talk about it. Always look for the worst on the job, because what is good doesn't create problems, it's the bad things in the job that we should know that might create our choices

One thing I advise people to do with resumes is to keep an annotated CV (much like an annotated bibliography). That will serve you as a great resource because it allows you to draw from it to craft your resume and your portfolio appropriately for what you are targeting. While resumes are short and to the point, it's much easier to identify what you want to utilize from that kind of starting point as opposed to trying to remember it on the fly.

Not all data science jobs are labelled as such. Data science is a skill set, and you can apply that skill set to almost anything in the modern world. Cast a wide net.

Data Science is probably the link from humans and Machine learning and other interesting areas of science. Keep in mind that many other concepts and practices from other sets of education are important like philosophy, ecology, sociology, ethics and moral... and so on. Even Religion as a science can be acquired with importance because religion as culture impact in peoples lives. So far, most of the companies are quite shallow and they don't see the importance of a wider knowledge in science positions. But it will change when we start to have to many replacements by AI and very bad results in soft skills, just because the scientist have no clue or experience in those skills.
