This is a one of the most important but FORGOTTEN step, as we can see normally the same JD (Job Description) is being shared for every position of cloud be it's junior engineer or a senior or even for the consultant position. Always clearly mention skills that are must needed for this job with some good to haves

After 10 years in this area, I would say that distilling strategy into requirements is one of the toughest tasks in any cloud project. Heavy experience in the topic and full cycle knowledge from the expert are key to success. The person needs to be able to "envision" what the environment (not the particulars at this stage) will be. This implies, both getting there and maintaining it. The correct candidate needs to be able to describe the differences (and there are some key ones) in the major public and hybrid clouds. Certifications and titles are nice to have but I vote for experience and current knowledge above all (a track record of success and yes, admitted failure) would be top of my list.

Most hyped new techniques are podcasts that are being conducted via Live streaming over discord communities and social media. Proactively engage with alike professionals and socialize with them to get more engaged with new trends and topics in the field.

Attending events online during the last few years gave me immediate access to knowledge. The testimonials from businesses adopting cloud technologies are very interesting and can inspire you for the company you are in. EventBrite and Meetup from my experience hosted a lot of fascinating events. Cloud community is progressing by forming groups of people sharing knowledge. Listening to other people's objective broadens your horizons. Sharing your experiences with like minded is just great!

Sure, you can join an online community or seek out a solution another way, but how can you verify the legitimacy and integrity of the person you come across? How can you ensure that you get along with this person and see if you work well together? Building relationships with colleagues first is the key. Through these relationships, you discover if they’re trustworthy or not. If they are, you’re more willing to take a chance and work with them. Based on your level of trust, you’re willing to go along with a recommendation they provide you for a potential collaborator. Rooted in this is EQ. That’s something online cannot provide.

A general rule of thumb for me is to maintain a vast network of connections and friendships in not just an IT industry, but others as well. Once, I needed a Lead Developer for a custom PHP framework (CRM-related) and to my surprise an old friend of mine I used to work with 12 years ago in education vertical made a move to the development area with a specialty in this exact rare framework. I was pleased to meet him once again. Although we haven’t spoken for quite some time, friendship was strong. Remember, building a network takes time and effort. Unlike cloud - not an “on-demand service”. Stay in touch with people, and never "burn bridges” when your paths separate. One day you might need someone's referral or acceptance of your job offer.

Based on my experience, our goal should be to recruit candidates who prioritize technical capabilities, taking into account current competition and skillsets. We tend to hire generalists rather than technologist, but in the long term, technologist can identify critical issues and enhance productivity.
