SOME IDEAS. 1. Define the main objective of what do you want to achieve in your presentation. 2. Know your audience and have clear what are the main decisions your audience need to take with your presentation. 3. Highlight the main results of your presentation (different colors, Bold Numbers) 4. Tell a story during the presentation. 5. Less is more do not use too much material. (you can have backup but only just in case) 6. One image is better than 1000 words.

Step into their shoes: Beforehand, research their age, background (education, work), and interests. Think event organizers, company info, or targeted social media groups. What's their quest? Are they seeking pure knowledge, a good laugh, or a call to action? Knowing their goals helps you tailor your content. Knowledge check: Are they novices or topic veterans? Beginners need foundational explanations, while experts crave deeper dives. Set the right mood: Is it a formal conference or a casual meetup? A lighthearted tone might fly with a young crowd, while seriousness fits a professional setting.

Knowing how to communicate to your audience and not your data is important when presenting. Present to your audience and not your data. Many presenters look at their slides and present and think the power point is their audience. When data presented clearly and pointedly, data can elevate your point’s credibility and trustworthiness.

Consider recording and reviewing your presentations to identify areas for improvement and refine your delivery style. Take feedbacks from trusted colleagues/mentors who can provide valuable insights and suggestions for enhancement.

Pay attention to your tone, body language, and pacing, and make adjustments as needed.

Clearly define key insights and organize your content in a logical order. Ensure that your data is easily understandable to your audience; provide background information, sources, and explain the significance. Context is crucial. Ask questions to gauge understanding and maintain engagement. Whether using a formal deck or a casual Q&A approach, prioritize knowledge sharing as the ultimate goal.

A good data visualization is not enough to capture and maintain your audience's attention. You also need to organize your information in a logical and coherent way that guides them through your main points and conclusions. A simple and effective structure for a data presentation is the following: introduce your topic and purpose, provide some context and background, explain your data sources and methods, present your findings and insights, and end with a clear call to action or recommendation. Use transitions, summaries, and signposts to connect the different parts of your presentation and help your audience follow your logic.

Depends on the context and audience, consider inductive approach - start with the overarching solution / suggested action, then followed by reasoning and key issues at hand. This approach can sometimes spark the curiosity of the audience to find out the "why" behind the call to action.

One thing that i have found helpful is recording yourself during practice. It helps me analyze the pace, pauses and overall tone of the message.

Hablar pausadamente, manejar los tiempos y especialmente una buena actitud, permitiran que tu entrega sea todo un exito. Identifica cuales son los temas mas complejos y expresalos de manera entendible. Por ultimo, contesta todas las inquietudes posibles, si hay algo que no esta a tu alcance, establece un compromiso de averiguar o validar con quien corresponda. Concluye de forma corta y precisa. Si tienes publico en casa practica con ellos. Por ultimo CONFIA en ti mismo, todo se dara de la mejor manera.

I’ve found that volunteering in the community significantly helps with public speaking. For instance, years back I started coaching youth sports. This requires both communicating with children and their parents concerning matters ranging from practice, drills, before & after game speeches, conflict resolution etc. And for the most part it’s low threat. After all, you’re a volunteer and most parents and kids appreciate that if you’re genuinely trying to do a Good job. After some time you will become a natural at public speaking and to top matters off you will simultaneously be giving back to the community. That’s my experience

Not everyone is born to be speakers but it is a skill that can be learned. Even if you have vast knowledge of the topic, your delivery might not come across as you liked unless you practise speaking it out loud. It can be useful to practise in front of mirror or in front of small group of people before your actual presentation and gather feedback on your body language, speed of talking, unwanted words like umm.. or so that will steal attention from your message and the structure of the presentation itself (was it logical, did it set the stage, did your message come across etc).

Aim for 6-8 words per bullet points. If the slide is too wordy you inevitably inviting the audience to read the slide rather than listening to you. Don't get bogged down in decorating the slide. The goal should be making the slide visually appealing while emphasizing the key message, and clarity should always be the priority and not be sacrificed.

Data storytelling is a powerful technique for engaging audiences. Instead of bombarding them with charts and figures, weave a narrative around the data to convey meaning and insights effectively. Start with a clear storyline, introduce the problem or opportunity, present the data-backed analysis, and conclude with actionable takeaways. By framing data within a compelling narrative, you make it more relatable and memorable for your audience.

There are several ways how to engage audience to have more attention on you and make your speech memorable. Depending on the situation the engagement techniques can wary but consider different options like: telling a joke, saying personal story, using Menti or Kahoot to ask questions during the speech or make them play a game, create persona that walks through the project or problem as a customer and give them character, consider making videos or act out a situation on a stage. This is dependent on your audience, the setup and message you want to deliver but I urge you to think outside of the box and putting in some time and energy to deliver a great presentation.

Where appropriate, ask your audience question / get them to discuss with each other / share their thoughts. A useful way especially when you are stuck / having mental block.

There are several new speeches and examples all around us, we just have to be willing to take notes and gather tips from them whenever we can. Use TedTalks or conferences and speech videos to understand what makes one persons speech speak to you and others you forget immediately. If there is someone in your company or close ones that is great at delivering presentations and speeches, ask them for tips and analyse their performances, what details you notice. Also consider listening to podcasts or reading a book on how to become better presenter as it will give you pointers to look out for that you start to notice in other speeches and your own as you go along.

To improve the communication of data visually to stakeholders, I'd focus on practicing presentations, gathering feedback, and attending public speaking workshops. Practice! Practice! Practice! A valuable tip is to record yourself presenting and then listen back, critiquing your performance to identify areas for improvement. Continuously refine your presentation skills through this iterative process until you achieve perfection.

Creating a presentation that contains numerical data can be challenging. However, an interactive visualization dashboard can help to convey the information more effectively and engage the audience. To structure my presentation, I divide it into three sections. Firstly, I outline the challenge, including the objective, target audience, and how to engage them. Secondly, I present the solution, covering each issue topic in detail. Finally, I conclude with a call to action, which includes a recap and next steps.
