You’re struggling to build a successful team in accounting. What’s the first step you take?

First, I made sure of the stability and cohesion of the group. 2 .I allocated the budget correctly, gave budget to each team based on its requirements, not to spend more money on one or more teams because of my taste. 3. Arrange the road map Correctly. 4. Respected people's technical knowledge. 5. Took advice from my team members.

The first step you need to take is to assess your team’s current state. This means evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). Assessing their strengths and weaknesses will help you to identify ??what your team does well, ??what they need to improve, ??what they can leverage, and ??what they need to overcome. This will help you understand your team’s capabilities, needs, and challenges, and set realistic and relevant goals for them.

A team without vision has no future and direction. So it’s important to communicate a clear vision for them. This means explaining the purpose, values, and objectives of your team, and how they align with the organization’s mission and strategy. You also need to share your expectations, standards, and feedback mechanisms for your team, and how they will be measured and rewarded. This will inspire your team with a common direction, motivate them with clear incentives, and empower them with consistent guidance and support.

Setting a vision is crucial.This will set a foundation to every goal that is to be achieved by the team.It will help prioritize the tasks to be achieved and filter out the ones that do not agree with the overall vision.

Another crucial step you need to take is to involve your team in the planning and decision-making process. Take their ideas, and feedback on the goals, strategies, and actions you propose for them. Again, listen to their concerns, suggestions, and opinions, and address them respectfully and constructively. There should be a sense of belonging, value, collaboration, and trust among your team members, and leverage their diverse perspectives and expertise.

I would like to develop my team's skills by providing them with new challenges, opportunities & adequate training so that they can grow eventually. I will create a flexible culture where they can learn the required skills from anyone in the organization. I would encourage them to collaborate with each other & keep learning.

In my experience as an Accountant, A great Leader should; 1. Assign roles and responsibilities 2. Encourages team work and collaboration 3. Involve your team in decision making 4. Appreciate their efforts and successes through bonuses, promotions and accolades. 5. Care for the physical and mental health by setting achievable expectations and objectives, giving leisure times and organizing team day outings. 6. Take their concerns, feedbacks and suggestions and attend to them effectively.

Through my experience, I believe that half of the game is won if accountant is organized and disciplined and as a Leader if we establish this fact with team they can aspire and learn. - Do the right tradeoff between the Skill and Attitude - Focus on preventive measure rather than highlighting the mistakes - Make team aware about the tools and technology that can boost their productivity - Map the individual skills with right sub function of accounts like AP, AR etc..
