The most important thing to do, when starting a new project is to make everyone involved to have a common understanding on what exactly are we supposed to achieve. The boundaries must be specified very well. My claim is that a good and comprehensive project plan, which the whole team is committed to, is crucial to maintain the efficiency of the development work. Experience has taught that testing of the chunks, from the start, especially when developing AI and digital twins is very important, since the code should be written just once. Rewriting code is expensive. So, design, testing and communication are very important factors to produce quality in an efficient way.

One should have an R&D power house that analyses the product, This is where you can analyse the strengths and weaknesses of your product. I would add threat library to the list. It is not a common practice for many products today, however being proactive in understanding the types of threats whether it be a person, entity, machine intelligence or tactics used to carry out an attack and the types of known vulnerabilities that exist in a product and the risk associated with them. This also applies to the supply chain which often is not considered.

Keeping library of design / testing / product development etc is always better to avoid same mistakes which happened earlier. Additionally keeping library of sewing operations and their pitch time also helps in planning the exact output and efficiency too.

Sin dudas que realizar la documentación en cada fase del desarrollo de los productos provee una ventaja para futuros productos y proyectos así como para los actuales ya que es posible tomar decisiones con información fehaciente la cual se ha conseguido por medio de investigación y desarrollo integral.
