New job remotely can be executed with ease if u are mostly conversant with the subject. U need to discuss & understand the current issues promptly to take a dip & sail along. If u are able to sail along , u are in & be assured of full involvement. Never try to take advantage of your newness , it is easy but keeps u on the bank of river while others are sailing.

This is important when you first start on a new team , even more so if the team is remote. When working remotely communication is all you have to connect you to new team members .

Even if your job is remote: You should visit your working space and meet your new team in person. That is still the best way to connect with people.

Clarify your role, responsibilities, and goals with your manager or team lead. Ensure you have a clear understanding of what is expected of you. Set clear expectations and be disciplined in your routine.

In a remote setting you have to be more intentional about making connections. Outside of mentor programs, find out who works in other departments that touch yours, stakeholders in your success, and other team members you can learn from outside of onboarding - and proactively set up regular Zoom meetings to get to know them. This will serve you well when you need to know where to find something, but it also gives you the start to a network that can help you shift into new roles in future.

Do not be shy and place yourself in the work context. Take a new board on Miro and place yourself in the centre, describing, 1. What you have to do 2. How you can do it 3. Methodologies for doing the work ( example, to get a report you have to send an e-mail to X people ) Now that you have your own little world, associate the right people, your colleagues, with these processes, describing what they do and how. Now comes the moment of 'don't be shy', set short calls and discuss the method of work and whether it suits them. People will be more cooperative if they feel included.

Take the initiative to introduce yourself to your colleagues virtually, schedule virtual coffee chats or meetings to get to know them better, and ask questions to understand team dynamics and culture. Getting to know the work culture will help you understand how you can contribute and grow yourself.

Connect with current employees. Reach out to current employees on professional networking platforms or through company communication channels. Ask them about their experience working remotely and about the company's culture and values. This can provide valuable insights.

Working remotely is dangerous for many people; they think they can do everything whenever they want and thus accumulate stress because they do things at crazy hours. Draw a timeline, put Goal, key points and results you want to achieve. Then you will be able to reap results and give yourself the real prize, which is to be masters of working remotely. The advantage of not being in the office is the goal, so be precise and the goals will accumulate and you will be free and relaxed.

I would toss thirty minutes on the calendar and just ask people questions and get to know them, and what they do. I had great success and for those that wanted to continue building a relationship with intentionality and purpose, we set up monthly connections. Human connection is important in remote work environments.

Apart from all the suggestions above, I would like to offer more ideas that would help me and other remote workers as well: -Arrange VIRTUAL SHADOWING sessions with team members to observe their day-to-day work processes, gaining practical insights into the role and responsibilities. -Engage in interactive, multimedia onboarding modules that simulate real work scenarios. -Participate in a REMOTE COFFEE ROULETTE program where new hires are randomly paired with existing employees for virtual coffee chats, creating networking opportunities. -Join DIGITAL MENTORSHIP PODS where new hires are placed in small groups with experienced employees who provide customized guidance.
