1 Know your costs

This includes both fixed and variable expenses, such as rent, utilities, equipment, software, taxes, insurance, travel, marketing, and so on. You also need to factor in your personal expenses, such as mortgage, food, health, education, and savings. Add up all your costs and divide them by the number of hours you plan to work per year. This will give you your break-even rate, or the minimum amount you need to charge to cover your expenses.

You can also ask for feedback from your past and current clients, peers, and mentors. Based on your value proposition, you can adjust your break-even rate upwards to reflect your competitive advantage and differentiation.
