I always love to redefine the word volunteering in our opening remarks to the sessions. Or maybe you're taking a leadership class you've taken 100 times in different forms. Whatever the circumstance, identify goals that are not related to the learning objectives that will drive your experience of that learning event. Maybe you set a goal to connect with someone new, to demonstrate to your boss your spirit of curiosity, or event to contribute to others in the room out of your own expertise. Get creative. If you have to be there, consider ways to make it as impactful as possible.
