We develop our training content to build the knowledge and that is not always the best way to remember and apply that knowledge. A graphic organizer allows you to change how notes are taken and add in the ability to apply it in the moment. You can think about how the information is best applied and used long term and that can help them personalize and customize the session by making it active.

Integrate stories into your training sessions. As social beings, our minds are primed to remember narratives. If you provide examples and share stories that incorporate elements of what you're helping others learn, they can recall the story to better remember the practices discussed within it.

It’s important to include hands on activities for them to implement what they are learning in the training or having small group discussions on how to implement what they are learning into their day-to-day workflow. Trainings often involve only passive listening and not active learning!
