You're showcasing your passion for entrepreneurship in an interview. How can you effectively communicate it?

You can show case your entrepreneurship journey in a different ways, by telling your interviewer a past stories that made you who you are today.

Many "non-entrepreneurs" are working in corporatea or in SME; they feel "caught" and "logged-in" their current role, despite the fact that they also have dreams, are interested in other stuff, would like to work on other projects that are not required from them in their daily job. As an entrepreneur who is passionate when talking to an audience of people who are not yet entrepreneurs, I think the best way to communicate and get connected is that you a) respect the situation others are in and do not send the message that not being an entrepreneur is bad, b) you give insights in your story so that people understand that it also was not easy for you and then c) try to inspire others with your passion by outlining the freedom and learnings.

I absolutely LOVE my work of "Business Financial Literacy" - Inspiring and Empowering Entrepreneurs to see Finance as a Friend in their businesses, not the Enemy. Many times people have told me they love the Passion they can feel I have for my work. My point is you CANNOT FAKE IT, so DO NOT FAKE IT, as humans have an ability to sense when someone is not be truthful and authentic, and this will work against you. Even if you struggle with the Passion part, at least always be HONEST, as this still conveys authenticity.

My 'why' is rooted in a passion for empowering others to succeed. Growing up, I witnessed my parents struggle to find stable employment, despite their skills and dedication. This experience ignited a fire within me to create opportunities for others to thrive.

All you need are 1 or 2 examples in which you were able to demonstrate your entrepreneurial passion. Tell these examples as an anecdote and try to get your conversation partner excited about the topic. The pointed touch of passion creates authenticity and is underpinned by a real event. Super!

I personally use Youtube a lot to stay informed. The algorithm proposes automatically topics to you that are related to your past interests. If you then click on a new but related topic you get more videos of that new topic from the algorithm. If you then subscripe to a good channel you can stay informed easily.

Start with understanding the purpose of the interview and then adjust your replies according. If you are being interviewed for a job that requires entrepreneurial thinking then you can follow the suggestions above and showcase your entrepreneurial experience to address what areas of experience they are looking for. If you are being 'interviewed' to access an incubation program the answers will be different. Just remember that the company and product or service are far less important than what you accomplished, learned and how these can benefit the organisation of the person who is interviewing you.

For me, entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. It's about embracing the ebbs and flows, learning from failures, and continuously adapting to the ever-changing landscape. My goal is to build a legacy that transcends fleeting successes, one that fosters sustainable growth, empowers others, and leaves a lasting imprint on the world.
