I try to make personal anecdotes within my motivational speeches relate and be applicable in the lives of the people. Each anecdote must have a clear message or lesson aimed at fitting the overall scheme of the speech. Employment of humor, emotions, and vivid descriptions help with building a connection with the audience and keeps them interested in the story. I also engage the audience with questions or involving them, so it makes them a participant, not just a passive listener. The outcome is high-energy performance and audience involvement.

The personal anecdotes have the audience relate to me, and those personal anecdotes include my singing several phrases from songs that align with my story, in between each point or story. This always keeps the audience engaged as it comes at unexpected times which they seem to really appreciate.
