I agree with all contributors. I would add that it requires empathy and humility on the part of the mentor to make the relationship successful. Being attentive to the mentee’s needs and adapting the approach to each person’s profile and to the context on one hand, and accepting that there will be many instances when we might not be able to help on the other hand. Adopting a learning posture is always beneficial; mentors like teachers can learn a lot about themselves but also their job from their mentees and grow through the mentor-mentee relationship.
