1 Blaming others

One of the worst things you can do when facing a failure is to point fingers and shift responsibility. Not only does this create a toxic culture of distrust and defensiveness, but it also prevents you from identifying the root causes and finding solutions. Instead of blaming others, you should own up to your mistakes, acknowledge your role in the failure, and show empathy and support to your team members. This will help you build trust, foster collaboration, and encourage accountability.

The key is to first assess and understand the context and background around the incident. Refrain from pointing fingers or passing the buck on someone to escape as it never helps. Accept the reality and work towards a root-cause analysis and steps towards resolution or at least a plan to move from red to green. Putting together a plan of action is very important. When you respond with explaining the situation with a plan, it helps build trust and showcases leadership skills and portrays that you are a team player. Ensure you are patient with the questions and the emotions as there will be outburst on some parts and it needs to handled with empathy and maturity. Always try to bring the conversation back to solution from the problem.

"La responsabilidad no se delega". Esta valiosísima lección la aprendí de mi Líder hace 14 a?os. Siempre me he considerado un Líder responsable y considerado que asume sus errores en público, se disculpa y no culpa a los demás. Sin embargo, de ella aprendí un nivel muy superior, al entender que aunque las circunstancias no estén bajo tu control, cuando tú eres el líder, eres responsable de todo. De lo bueno y de lo malo. Así que ahora entiendo que debo estar siempre un paso adelante y estar preparado, no solo para lo bueno, sino para cuando tienes que responder por todo el equipo y asumir la responsabilidad. Porque la responsabilidad no se delega y el entenderlo, te hace más fuerte y mejor persona.

En un mundo ideal, todos deberíamos tomar decisiones basados en hechos verificables e irrefutables, sin basarnos en suposiciones o en creencias. Sin embargo esto no siempre sucede así. Como seres humanos, tenemos la responsabilidad de sobreponernos a nuestro sentimiento de sobrevivencia, el cual nos empuja a querer negar la realidad cuando no nos es conveniente. Asumir los resultados de nuestras acciones o a la falta de ellas nos lleva en la dirección correcta para crecer como personas y como profesionistas responsables.

Esta frase la he visto aplicada en la mayoría de las empresas, aun y cuando el producto, el proceso o la situación se encuentra dando bajos o malos resultados de forma evidente y comprobable. "Lo que no se mide, no se mejora, lo que no se mejora, se degrada siempre" Lord Kelvin Cómo líderes, tenemos que entender que somos parte de un equipo, que nuestra responsabilidad se encuentra en aplicar la mejor solución, en el momento correcto y de la manera más responsable. No valemos menos como personas, cuando aceptamos que las buenas ideas pueden venir de cualquier fuente. Los verdaderos líderes, usan las mejores ideas de los demás y ayudan a ponerlas en práctica.
