In my experience the best system I had was out of a digital desk, through a network bridge and a UB Madi straight into Pro Tools. Not the most cost effective system but the results were incredible. Full multitrack recordings with every channel separate including fx channels and groups. The level of quality and versatility when mixing the live albums offered total control over the mix. Early doors I did experience a clocking issue with pro tools but once everything was configured correctly it was a solid system. Be mindful and careful on the system settings. Know the DAW and know your equipment.
