La mejor forma de explicarlo es con experiencias. Un desarrollador me pidió hacerle una reunión con vecinos colindantes para presentarles un edificio que construirían pegado a sus casas, le conseguí la reunión en un café frente a sus casas y le dije al cliente que eran personas de edad avanzada y no muy a gusto con el proyecto. Lastimosamente no se preparó, llego vestido como joven emprendedor y una presentación para millenials que lo único que generó fue tremendo disgusto de los vecinos que hasta el dise?o vanguardista le criticaron, no logró exponer nada ni de los beneficios para ellos, pero eso pasa cuando ignoras quien es tu audiencia.

I learned that scaling communication as close as possible to the recipient is key to getting your message through. It is a totally different experience to start the day approaching a complex negotiation with a bank and close the day with two client negotiations, selling more or less expensive real estate. Por eso es mejor saber expresarse de una manera puntual cuando se tiene que hacer. Estaría interesante un workshop sobre negociación, comunicación efectiva y emocional. No se que opinen.

Identificar a tus stakeholders, es imposible lograr una comunicación asertiva si crees que todos entienden igual lo que dices. 2. Esto te dará un alcance bastante adecuado de los "pains and gains" de tu audiencia, y sobre eso debes versar tu comunicación. 3. No existe un discurso perfecto, lo que si existe es la preparación de diversos "talking points" que estén ligados al punto número dos. 4. La tarea del comunicador o vocero, será tener la habilidad de poder conectar con quien esta escuchando, y utilizar herramientas específicas dependiendo del grupo objetivo.

A todos nos fascina escucharnos hablar y de hecho la palabra que mas nos gusta oír en nuestro nombre. Debemos ser cautos y aprender a escuchar, eso lo da la experiencia ya que en el mismo ejemplo una segunda reunión con los vecinos. en esa ocasión había tomado nota de todas las quejas que plantearon y fue una reunión muy amena ya que llevaba soluciones a lo que ya sabía que se quejarían y dejaba que hablaran por si cambiaba de dirección la conversación. Es clave saber escuchar y hacerlo conscientemente y no solo esperando para poder decir lo que ya sabias que querías decir desde un inicio sin importar lo que te digan.

La forma mas efectiva que me ha resultado para que me den feedback real de temas, es haciendo una autocrítica y pedir opiniones de como creen que puede mejorarse o presentarse mejor. En esa forma, rompes el hielo y haces que se sientan los demás en un lugar seguro para hablar, ya que nadie lo dice, pero ser jefe es difícil y solitario y no muchos se atreven a decirte lo que realmente piensan, así que debes aprender a hacerlos sentirse cómodos y que puedan hablarte francamente para lograr ver mas allá. Para eso está el equipo para ayudarse a mejorar.
