At the proposal stage of scoping a project, we establish how many rounds of feedback are included. This way we set expectations up front. We ask for feedback at different stages and specify what is important to focus on and what can be ignored (for now). For example, at the rough-cut stage we want to focus on story and shot selection. Are we communicating the right message and are these the best shots to use? At this stage, the client should ignore things like color correction and sound mix, which are typically not ready for feedback until we have picture-lock. We use a platform like Vimeo review pages or Frame.io so that clients can place consolidated feedback directly on the video. In this way, all stakeholders can review feedback.

To ensure stakeholders' feedback is clear and actionable: Set clear expectations on the type of feedback needed. Provide a structured feedback process or template. Limit the number of reviewers to key decision-makers. Ask targeted questions to guide specific feedback. Set deadlines for timely feedback. Encourage constructive and actionable comments. Centralize feedback using collaborative tools. Summarize and clarify feedback before making changes.

So vermeidest du vage Rückmeldungen.

The backbone of every successful video project I have done is a solid script. Put it together. Transcribe the soundbites. Send it to the clients to get their feedback. Jump on Zoom and go over the script, incorporating their suggestions, or telling them face to face your rationale for not doing so. The give and take is priceless. After you've gathered feedback, send another revised script BEFORE you edit one frame of video. Don't forget to talk about the video choices you will make to cover the script. And another pro tip: make sure to get an asset folder of approved logos, fonts and website url's. You cannot over communicate. Better to do it before the piece is edited, especially if your deadline is tight.

To ensure clear and actionable stakeholder feedback in video production: 1. Set Objectives: Define the purpose, audience, and key messages. 2. Review Milestones: Collect feedback at stages like script, storyboard, and editing. 3. Guide Feedback: Ask specific questions to focus input on key areas. 4. Use Visuals: Provide storyboards or rough cuts with explanations to clarify decisions. 5. Track Feedback: Organize and prioritize feedback based on project goals. 6. Assign Decision-Makers: Define who approves creative or technical elements. 7. Actionable Input: Encourage detailed feedback with solutions. 8. Communicate Changes: Explain which suggestions were implemented and why. This keeps feedback focused and aligned with goals.
