The first thing is to be clear on the theme of the event. It’s your assignment to deliver a message that resonates with the theme. Not just what YOU want to randomly talk about. The message must be relatable to the event function which is why your audience is there. Next, understand that less is more. Focus on one central story that is relatable to the attendees on some level and has one easy to follow point or what I call “breakthrough” moment so that your audience is not overwhelmed by too many random stories and points to remember. Lastly provide the audience with at least 3 teachable takeaways that they can apply in their life immediately as a result of the lesson learned from the story. Lastly, deliver the message with passion. ??

To make sure your speech is concise yet impactful, start by pinning down one clear message you want everyone to remember. Create a simple outline with an engaging intro, a couple of key points in the body, and a memorable conclusion. Use straightforward language and sprinkle in personal stories to connect with your audience. Visual aids can be great for reinforcing your message without being distracting. Practice your delivery to get comfortable, and ask a few friends for feedback. Focus on your delivery—use your voice and body language to emphasize important parts. Wrap up with a strong call to action to get everyone engaged, and just be yourself; authenticity always shines through.

First ensure you know your audience details well and the topic of your speech. Ie. I will be speaking to project managers on Importance of planning. Conduct research in the area and when presenting reference to work done by other speakers in that area. Use case studies to support your points. Don’t make it scientific that you lose people. Narrow down your points to 5 or three. Use less wording in your presentation. Use visuals and stories. Engage the audience through questions or discussion groups

I will find a humorous story to tell, as humor helps to engage the audience, making the message more memorable and relatable. A good laugh will help the audience remember the story, and in turn, the core message delivered.
-
I follow the advice my father once gave me: start with a short story or a quote that immediately delivers the core message of the talk. This sets the tone and helps the audience connect right from the beginning. I also organize my main points around use cases or relatable examples. When people can relate to real-world scenarios, it becomes easier for them to engage with and remember the key takeaways, making the speech more impactful without overwhelming them with too much information.
