Para ello es necesario considerar las propiedades reales del fluido primario que afectan directamente al caudal (menor densidad que el agua pura) y a la pérdida de carga que deben vencer las bombas (mayor viscosidad que el agua pura). A esto hay que sumarle que en estos intercambiadores trabajamos con saltos térmicos bajos entre ida y retorno (aproximadamente 3oC) lo que nos da caudales de fluido elevados.

My thoughts were, in a highly urbanised environment the hotel wouldn’t have access to enough land area to drive loops underground and even so runs into risk of breaching/affecting underground utilities, then this would be a great alternative. Water has enormous heat capacity, however the size of reservoir and its functionality should be thoroughly accounted such that the heat transferred poses none or minimal danger to the biosphere.

Like any good, well-executed project you need clearly defined goals in order to select the appropriate solution. Geothermal offers all the above, potentially. Some require good geoscience knowledge and an appropriate location. Others less so.

I always ask clients to consider the decision to go ground source. Ground loops, bore holes are expensive and the efficiency increase compared with natural refrigerant air source heat pumps is minimal. Payback of the ground works would likely never be achieved. Air source heat pumps would be more cost effective. Using CO2 heat pumps would still achieve a SCOP of 3-4 and will provide heat at 70-80deg, meaning DHW and space heating are covered. CO2 will provide 70deg water at -20deg. Ground source looks more efficient compared with HFC heat pumps using R32 or R410 etc. but check out natural refrigerant air source systems. High performance and efficiency without the costly ground works.
